Mr. James Tilford Adamson, Jr., age 83 of Nashville, passed away on October 17, 2016.Mr. Adamson was preceded in death by his parents, James T. Adamson Sr. and Martha Walker Adamson.He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Kay Smith Adamson; his children, Marie (Dickie) Dickinson, James T. (Lisa) Adamson III, Laura (Steve) Britton, Julie (Donnie) Williams, Jonathan T. Adamson; and Kay's children, Lorraine Griffis Curley, Ginger (Gary Smith) Griffis, Stacey (Harlan) Griffis Holmes and Deron S. Griffis; grandchildren, Lindsae Negri, Tancy Nichols, JT Adamson IV, Stephen Britton, Lauren Britton, Joe Long, Jim Long, Ben Williams, Evelynn Adamson, Stephen Curley, Kevin Curley, Taylor Holmes, Grayson Holmes, Katelyn Griffis, Harrison Griffis and Garrett Griffis; nine great grandchildren; sister, Betty (Don) Adamson Short; nephews, Al (Libby) Short, Ken Short, Mark (Becky) Short; and special friends, Bill and Sallie Benton, Chapin, SC.Mr. Adamson was born on May 7, 1933 in Alexandria, TN. He moved to Nashville at a young age. As young teenagers Jim and Kay were introduced by his younger sister Bet and were high school sweethearts. He was a graduate of West End High School and also attended Carson-Newman and Belmont University. He was a member of the West Lunch Bunch, St. Paul Southern Methodist Church and more recently First Southern Methodist Church. He worked with Time DC, Carolina Steel and Luv Homes. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at two o' clock in the afternoon at First Southern Methodist Church, 4409 Colorado Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209 with visitation with the family before the service from twelve thirty until two o’clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Adamson may be made to First Southern Methodist Church.
