Y'all sometimes life just isn't fair. Sometimes God takes the most kind-hearted loving people and gives them mental disabilities that are too hard to fight.  My Uncle Jack passed away today after fighting a mental illness for over 40 years that took not only his mind but the medicine took his physical health too.  

My Uncle Jack will always have a special place in my heart because his heart was so big.  When I was little he would run the store, and always brought me back a candy bar or a soda. BTW his favorite was a good old fashion Snickers. If he made him a milk, he always asked if I wanted one...with out fail.  When we were being super obnoxious kids in the basement, where his room was, instead of getting mad he'd just go upstairs and sit a while.  Or my last visit with him, when he was dying he didn't want me to give him a hug or even touch him because he thought he had something contagious and didn't want to give it to me or Witten.  

Although my heart is breaking for the man that was here, I know he is in a so much better place.  Where he can run as far as he wants on the track field, have as much soda and cheeseburgers as he wants with out worrying about his diabetes, or just sit and have a conversation and have someone really listen and understand.  My Uncle Jack impacted my life, how my Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents dealt with his illness impacted my life.  For his life to be so heartrendingly tragic, he did something extraordinary...He showed that no matter what cards you are dealt you can still show love...and after all it's that All We Need?!

If you were lucky enough to know our Jack as a child then you were blessed.  Jack was the most wild eyed, inquisitive kid I ever knew and he was my big brother!!!!  If you wanted to make Mom and Dad mad, just do what Jack told you too!!!  I always did!!!! 

 For a long time we were best friends till our kid sister grew up enough to make it a threesome.. . the three amigos!   When Jack wasn't chasing after his older brothers, he was playing with my sister and I.   We played outside almost every night,  
 We made mud pies, drank dirty creek water, went barefoot, and got downright dirty!!!  Imagine that!!!   In fact, Jack taught me how to eat rocks, yes rocks,  and they were very tasty thank you very much!   We we're kids without cell phones, computers, or internet.   We played with each other....everyday, all day long if we could.  I still remember being up on the two big rocks behind our house (the Washing Machine and the Ironing Board as we called them)  playing and Jack way up high in the tree.  Mom yelling  "Jack get down from there before you hurt yourself, bring your sisters home for supper!!

I will miss my brother more than I can say as I remember the Jack he was; the child who never really got to grow up as mental illness took him from us at 17 years old.   Jack and I graduated from High School on the same day.   God let me move forward, but he didn't let Jack.  We all watched him suffer with his illness the rest of his life.  It was heart breaking, but we also all knew  that "OUR JACK" was in there somewhere.   

Just a memory and  thought!

Rest in peace big brother, we will all miss you!

Soar high, Uncle Jack.  Run like the wind.  Be free.  Love you. 

You're with Jesus now. I will miss your laugh and hearing you call me ,"Nanaboo." I know what you went through during your time on Earth. I also suffer as you did. You are free from all of that now. Tell Papaw I said hello. I love you and always will have a special place in my heart for you. Until we meet again.  ❤ Nanaboo REST IN PARADISE
