Mr. Homer J. Thompson, March 27, 1926, age 90, devoted to his family first, devout church member, retired Superintendent of Line Department of Nashville Electric Service, who also served with the U.S. Navy during WWII, died on September 7, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Ronnie (Delores) and Wayne (Freda); grandchildren, Brad (Walinda), Chris (Susan), Jason (Regina), Ronnie, Jr. (Jennifer) Thompson and Shea (David) Russell; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua, Samuel, Benjamen, Jeremiah, Shelby, Sara, Levi Thompson, Mason and Evan Russell, and Christopher Wilson, Brittany Gilbert, and Charley Yancy. He is also survived by a sister, Freda (Ron) Renfroe, brothers, John Walter (Jeanette), Ernest (Lorraine), James (Mary), and Thomas (Anne) Thompson. Homer is also survived by step-sons, Jerry and Danny (Sharon) Helton and grandchildren, Wesley and Jessica. Also, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth, his parents, Dozier and Thelma Thompson, sisters, Bea Thompson and Emily Britton (Roy), brother, Bobby Thompson, and an infant grandchild, Baby Rose.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016, at one o'clock, Woodlawn's Dignity. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park with military honors.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Friday from two o'clock until eight o'clock and Saturday from eleven o'clock until the funeral hour at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
