Gwyndolyn Arleen Robbins Hofstetter - Age 99 of Nashville, TN, died Thursday, September 7, 2017. The daughter of Max H. Robbins, Jr. and Edith L. Collins, Mrs. Hofstetter was born on May 18, 1918 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. In 1940 she moved to Donelson, Tennessee with her family and began working as a secretary at Camp (Fort) Cambell Army Base in Clarksville, Tennessee. In 1947 she married James William Hofstetter, Sr. Mrs. Hofstetter was a member of Andrew Price United Memorial Methodist Church and later became a member of Donelson Heights United Methodist Church. At Andrew Price Methodist Church she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and worked as the church librarian for many years. She also volunteered as the librarian for McKendree Manor in Hermitage. Mrs. Hofstetter was a member of the Daniel Smith's Rock Castle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Vanderbilt Duplicate Bridge Club. Predeceased in death by her husband, James William Hofstetter, Sr. in 2008, Mrs. Hofstetter is survived by her daughter Jo Ellen "Joby" Vaughn, (Kennith) and her son, James William ("Bill") Hofstetter, Jr. (Patty); three grandchildren, Mary Katherine Hofstetter, Shayne McCarter (Teresia) and Shelly Ayers (Micheal); five great grandchildren, Bradley (Cristina) and Cady McCarter, and; Meagan , Clark and Brannon Ayers. She is further survived by one great-great grandson, Elijah McCarter; sister, Patricia "Pat" McGruder (Bill), and by nieces, Mayme Lee Lawrence, Edith Robbins, Linda McCullars and Sue Sweeney, and nephews, Jack R. Sweeney, Mark W. Robbins, Richard D. Robbins, Daniel M. Robbins, Jr. and Charles Mellon. Visitation with the family will be on September 11, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Acklen Stateroom of the Mount Olivet Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Road, Nashville, Tennessee (615) 255-4193. Following visitation, the Celebration of Life services is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the Serenity of Life Chapel of the Mt. Olivet Funeral Home with interment to follow in the historic Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Honorary Pallbears will be the members of Donelson Heights United Methodist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Donelson Heights United Methodist Church.
