Gary Lee Semanchik was a man with a heart as big as his personality. While his family called him son, husband, Dad, and Dadoo, his friends knew him to be a mentor, confidant, companion, fierce competitor and loyal friend. His love, passion, and positive attitude in everything he did or person he interacted with was truly unmatched. He was a loving father who spent countless hours with his family, who he always put first. Lucy and his children displayed a never-ending love for this exuberant man of many talents.
Long ago, Gary surrendered his heart and soul to God, and God worked through him in many ways throughout his lifetime. He took his kids on several trips to Honduras with his church, Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, to build houses for families in need. God used Gary as he traveled overseas bringing three precious little ones from Russia to waiting arms in America. Later, Gary established Adoption Hope, a fund to assist adoptive parents all over the South. God used Gary as he mentored many young men into their own independent business careers. God used Gary as he poured himself into his retirement “hobby” of preparing Camp Sycamore Creek for the Inner City Children of Nashville.
The hard work Gary put into all his business and personal endeavors made him an admirable force. While at school in Leesburg High School to Florida State then on to Jacksonville University Gary excelled in football and baseball. He led the nation in RBIs during those college years. In business, Gary was a successful, serial entrepreneur who created multiple businesses throughout his extensive business career spanning four decades. Gary moved quickly from an employee to an owner with multiple successful business startups: Inform, Statement Rendering Solutions, Nashville Armory, Get Fit Anytime, TN Prime Contractors, Custom Woodworks of Nashville, and various commercial real estate investments. It was said that everything he touched turned to gold.
While his work ethic and dedication to his craft was second to none, he made sure to make plenty of time for his family and hobbies. He was a coach at heart, and he loved coaching his kids and volunteering at Lipscomb Academy. He loved spending time with his family on vacations with a special affinity for their time at “Gary’s Lake house” or at the beach house in Gulf Shores. He treasured going to Titans and FSU games with his kids and grandkids. He loved fishing and playing golf with his sons and buddies where he would routinely walk three rounds a week. Everyone enjoyed being around him, and he always made any activity one you would always remember.
Gary lived life to the fullest with no regrets and always took the time to help others along the way. He had a knack for making anyone he came into contact with leave the conversation encouraged and feeling better about themselves. His personality and laugh were infectious, and he made everyone around him better. He did absolutely everything with all his might. Gary’s life touched many, but his deepest love and pride was focused on his family. He was blessed!
