Evelyn Parker Clark was born at home on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1923 in Nashville, TN. She passed away in Nashville on March 18, 2023. She was preceded in death by parents Casto Wallace Parker and Elizabeth Denny Parker, a sister Helen Parker Burnett, daughter Diane Parker Clark, and her loving husband Glynn Alden Clark.
Evelyn is survived by daughter Donna June Clark, niece Sharon Burnett Tyler, nephew Larry Parker Burnett, other nieces and nephews, and a Vietnamese "daughter" Kim Ha Campbell.
Evelyn attended West End High in Nashville and graduated from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. While at Carson-Newman she made friends with four girls and they remained friends throughout their lives.
These were World War II days and Evelyn went to work at Oak Ridge, TN in the Chemical Department. Uranium was being enriched there for the building of the Atomic Bomb which ended World War II. Her story is in the Rosie the Riveter Museum in Richmond, CA.
It was at Oak Ridge where she met the love of her life, Glynn Clark who was stationed there in the Manhattan Project. They were married March 23, 1946.
After the War, Glynn was an employee of Marathon Oil Company for 32 years. the family lived in Austin, TX, Shreveport, LA, Tula, OK, Findlay, OH and Denver, CO and Glynn and Evelyn returned to Nashville for retirement. In each place they lived, Evelyn was involved in church and community activities. Evelyn was a full-time mother and homemaker after helping Glynn through graduate school. She was on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army and taught Sunday School classes in most of the churches they attended. She taught a Bible Class for many years. Her faith, family, and friends were at the center of her life.
Glynn and Evelyn traveled extensively. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Current Events Club, Garden Club, Cheekwood, and many other organizations. She was an active member at Nashville First Baptist Church.
