Miss Etha Pearl Green, retired journalist, age 94, died on August 7, 2016. Etha was born September 12, 1921, in Bardstown, Kentucky. She was the daughter to John and Nina Pearl Crutcher Green, deceased. She resided in Nashville since early childhood. Predeceased by brothers, Ellis Clinton Green, Sr., William Vreeland Green, and twin, John Morton Green; nephews, Ellis Clinton Green II, of Old Hickory, TN, and Jimmy W. Johnson, of White House, TN; sisters-in-law, Ruth Demonbreun Liggett, and Frances McCool Green Smith; and her friend since girlhood, Miss Ruth Lee of Nashville, TN. Survived by sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Morris Green, of Smyrna, TN; nephews, John Michael Green (Denni) of Smyrna, TN, Kenneth Oliver Green (Linda) of Columbia, MO, and William Steven Green (Kay) of Nashville, TN; nieces, Mrs. Shirley Latimer Green of Old Hickory, TN, Mrs. Nancy Carolyn Johnson of White House, TN, and Ms. Charlotte Ann Lanham of St. Louis, MO. Also survived by surrogate daughters, Ms. Gwen Vaughn Rachels of Avon Park, FL, Mrs. Carol Fishburne “Kenneth” Smith of Albuquerque, NM, and Mrs. Anna Leone “Granville” Prince of Cadiz, KY; her “Fourth Brother” Robert Lee, of Long View, WA; mentor, Dr. Norman L. Parks of Murfreesboro, TN; and beloved neighbors, Michael and Gina Raybourn of Donelson, TN. Miss Green was employed by the former Nashville Banner as a reporter, George Peabody College for Teachers (now Peabody College of Vanderbilt University) as news bureau director, and the Tennessee Education Association as managing editor of the its paper. She is grateful to the pilgrims at Lindsley Avenue and Jackson Park Churches of Christ and dear caregivers at Heartland in Donelson. Visitation to be held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, from three to eight o’clock in the evening, and again on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, from one-thirty to two-thirty with funeral service to follow also at the funeral home. Active pallbearers are her grand-nephews.
