Emma Jane Culp Houston, age 86, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away on April 14, 2023. She was born on April 29,1936 in Albemarle, North Carolina to the late Hugh E. Almond and Estelle (Herrin) Almond. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Walter Ray Culp, Jr. and also by her late husband, Roy C. Houston. She is survived by her daughter, Lori (William) Tice of Brentwood, TN and her son, Walter Ray Culp, III, of Franklin, TN and 5 grandchildren, Emily (Mark) Mitchell, Will (Emily) Tice, Emma Culp, Isabella Culp and Walter Culp, IV and 3 (soon to be 5) great grandchildren. She is also survived by loving stepchildren, Rick (Sharon) Houston of Huntsville, AL and Jim (Melinda) Houston of Inlet Beach, FL, 4 step grandchildren, Will Houston, Nathan (Holly) Houston, John (Emily) Houston and Meg (Will) Saxon and 7 step great grandchildren.
Jane was a woman of tremendous faith in Jesus Christ and loved her church home and family, Brentwood Baptist Church, so very much. She joined that church in 1973 and was an active member there over the remainder of her life. Jane was a Registered Nurse, who lovingly touched so many lives. She was affectionately known as “Nurse Jane” by many who knew her. Jane was blessed with loving brothers, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins from NC and she loved them all so very much. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening and playing Bridge but one of her favorite things was being “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 12:30pm on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Brentwood Baptist Church, where the funeral will be held at 2pm, with a private burial service to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
