Charles Michael Stevens of Brentwood, Tennessee, departed this life from his home on April 2, 2021. He was born October 30, 1945 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Charles Porter Stevens and Margaret Craig Stevens.
Known as Mike, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Vanderbilt University and his Master’s Degree at the University of Georgia. Mike excelled as a teacher in Atlanta for 18 years, starting in inner city schools and then creating the gifted program, even bringing in President Ronald and Nancy Reagan as guest speakers.
He took over the Stevens family business in Nashville as the third-generation owner and president for Eveready Printing in 1985. He opened a division called Eveready Press with his son Jadyn and wife Priscilla, which operated as an independent book publishing service. This work led to the telling and recording of many great family stories in Nashville and beyond. Eveready continued operation until 2021.
Bible study, prayer, worship, and biblical archaeology were of special interest to him. His faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior shaped his life and leadership of both business and family.
He enjoyed playing guitar, grilling out, gardening, spending time at the beach with family, and deep-sea fishing. Mike was always finding ways to improve the lives of his family as a loving husband, Dad, and Grandfather. His God-given gifts of encouragement, strength, wisdom, and discernment were continuously in use for his loved ones. He was a faithful member of Stephens Valley Church.
Mike is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 54 years, Priscilla Grooms Stevens, son Jadyn Michael Stevens and his wife Julia Hebert Stevens and their sons Bennett and Rowan of Franklin, daughter Leigh Chamblin Stevens and her children Aidan and Aelia of Brentwood; brother Barry Craig Stevens and his wife Mary Beth Stevens of Louisville, Kentucky, and their sons Porter and Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday,April 15 at 10 am at Stephens Valley Church on 6000 Pasquo Rd. Nashville TN 37221.
in lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be given to Stephens Valley Church.
