Carolyn L. Cook Glaus

She was born to the late Charles Edward and Mary Jane (Secrest) Daniels on February 15th, 1942 in Beckley, West Virginia.

Carolyn was raised in Charleston, WV and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School.

Above all else, from her earliest days as a young girl, Carolyn dreamed of having a family and raising children. As a loving wife and mother she was always a steadfast example of love, kindness, compassion, resourcefulness, and hard work.

Before starting her family, Carolyn was employed by the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company in Charleston, WV as a switchboard operator. A number of years later, once her kids were raised, she was employed by Castner-Knott and Macy’s in Nashville, TN for 17 years before retirement.

First married to Beckley, WV native Frederick Wayne Cook on October 13th, 1961 in Charleston, WV, he preceded her in death after 27 years of marriage. Eleven years later she married Nashville, TN native Jere Lillard Glaus who also preceded her in death following 17 years of marriage.

Carolyn loved Southern Gospel Music and found hope and inspiration in its songs about Heaven and her savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her daughter Cheryl Ann (Cook) Hatchett (Keith) of Bell Buckle, TN, sons Frederick Wayne Cook, Jr. (Dori) of Spring Hill, TN, Richard Lee Cook (Carmen) of Nashville, TN, Thomas Edward Cook (Terry) of Arvada, CO, and John David Cook (Lauren) of Nashville, TN; Thirteen grandchildren, Albert Hatchett (Jenny), Emily Hatchett, Alex Hatchett, Taylor Cook, Lindsey Cook, Garrett Cook, Grace Cook, Griffin Cook, Lucas Cook, Jack Cook, Ruby Cook, Molly Cook, Daisy Cook and three great-grandchildren, Eliza Hatchett, Jeffrey Hatchett, and Lily Hatchett. Sisters Judith Ann Daniels Stewart (Stuart) of Naples, FL, Nancy Ellen Daniels Rabb (Max) of Gastonia, NC, and Dorothy “Dottie” Louise Daniels Murphy of Gastonia, NC.

Also preceding her in death were her sisters Jane Kathryn Daniels, Mary Warrene “Sugar” Daniels Catlett, and brother Charles Edward “Charlie” Daniels, Jr.

Gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, November 1st from from six o'clock until eight, and Saturday, November 2nd from Noon until the service at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. Funeral services will take place Saturday, November 2nd at one o'clock in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall.
