Alice Lentz Downing

A native of Columbia in Maury County, she was born July 7, 1925. Mrs. Downing was the daughter of the late Charles (Charlie) and Carrie Lentz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Nellie Rea, Charles Lentz, Mattie Lee Gaskill, Annie Lou Johnson and Jewell Brooks.

She was married for 60 years to the late Richard E. Downing and was also preceded in death by their son Ricky Downing.

Mrs. Downing retired from the IRS after a career of more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and Eastwood Christian Church. Nothing was more important to her than family. She spent many a night at the bedside of family and friends, and she will truly be missed.

Survivors include grandson Bob (Amy) Downing, and their children Richard E. (Tripp) Downing III and Cassidy Downing; grandson Andrew Corddry and granddaughter C.J. Corddry; and daughter-in-law Donna (David) Downing-Corddry; special daughter Penny Meek; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 6 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park where services will also be at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 7. Steve Dickerson and Bob Frech will preside.

Pallbearers will be Jim Downing, Chuck Lentz, Stanley Downing, Ron Hood, Steve Cates, Jeff Moseley, Ronnie Gower and Allen Horton.
