Addie E. Hamilton, age 90, passed away on November 10, 2019 in Nashville, TN.
Addie is preceded in death by her parents, Osia B. and Robert H. Hamilton and beloved sister, Wenona Hamilton. She is survived by nephew, Jeff Brown and his wife Cindy; cousin, Jeff Manners and his wife Lili and their daughters Tanja and Urška from Belgium.
Addie worked at National Life Insurance Company before beginning nursing school. She attended Nashville General Hospital School of Nursing and took a job in Hayden, KY with Frontier Nursing as an instructor and to provide midwife service until 1958. Addie then took an instructor position at Baptist Nursing School and then began as a Nursing Administrator as evening director of Nursing Service in 1970. Addie was later promoted to Vice President and P.M. Administrator. In 1989, she received the Caring Hands Award, the highest honor a hospital employee can receive. She retired with distinction in 1995.
Addie attended Church of the Messiah and was a Sunday School Teacher beginning in 1972. She was designated as a Church Mother in 2017. On October 13, 2019 the Education Building at Church of the Messiah was dedicated in her honor.
