Donald Charles Junken

Donald Charles Junken, 68, of Nashville passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, December 15, 2024. He was born September 8, 1956 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Chester and Joan (Allen) Junken.

Don, (or D.J., as he was known to many) was a master carpenter by trade, who worked alongside his father in their business “Chester Junken and Son” for close to forty years. They were known for their excellent craftsmanship, and made many friends and connections through their business. A kind, gentle, friendly soul, Don didn’t know a stranger. He loved nature and gardening- the trees, plants, flowers and creatures, noticing every detail, and taught all of us about it along the way. He was an avid reader of history, especially about England. He enjoyed a great game of pool or euchre at family gatherings, and he sure loved a good meal and a cup of Earl Grey tea. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart, withholding nothing, always there to help or listen, give to others and always kept his word. He was man of deep, unshakable faith in the Lord and his promises, and let his life reflect that daily. His presence in our lives will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his brother, Dr. Steven (Cathy) Junken, a sister, Becky (Skip) Pico, nephews, Jeremiah Junken, Jed (Melissa)Junken, niece Ashley (Greg) Gartner , Clara Junken. Cousins, Bill (Sandy) Allen, Rachel Allen, Lindsey(Josh), Dave(Sara)Allen, Randy(Jill) Allen, Russell(Debra) Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Daniel Junken.
