Bobby Gene Sears, age 85, of Nashville, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at his residence. Born March 26, 1935 in Hadley, Kentucky, he was the son of Jesse Sears and Cordie (Snodgrass) Alford Sears. Bobby retired as a machine maintenance worker at Stokley VanCamp in Indianapolis after working for 35 years. He then went to work for Heekin Can Company in Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing everyday that he was not at work and considered one of his greatest accomplishments was when he killed a big elk in Colorado. He also enjoyed focusing on teaching all his skills to his three sons.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Phyllis (Lunsford) Sears. They were married on February 11, 1963 in the City-County Building in Indianapolis. Bobby is also survived by his three sons; David (Shannon) Sears, of Bargersville, Russell Sears, of Nashville and Larry (Amy) Sears, of Helmsburg; five grandchildren, Natasha Sears, Brian Sears, William Sears, Derek Sears and Promise Gale Sears and three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alana and Kimber.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, one son, William Lee Sears, three brothers, Wendell , Bill and Joe Sears, three half-brothers, Wallace, Henry and Amos Alford and one half-sister, Ernestine Alford.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. His remains will be interred at a later date in the Massey Cemetery in Fall Rock, Kentucky.
