Paul J. Germain, 77, of Nashua, NH passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He was born on August 26, 1934 in Lowell, MA, the son of the late Joseph and Germaine (Pelletier) Germain.
Paul served his country as a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard for forty-two years. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and was the longest serving member of the 26th Yankee Infantry Division. He received the Humanitarian Service Medal for his efforts during the Blizzard of 1978, as well as the prestigious Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal for his years of outstanding service to our nation.
He was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company of America as an insurance agent and financial advisor. Paul received numerous awards including admission into Prudential’s Academy of Honor for outstanding sales and service. After his retirement in 1996, Paul continued to serve his loyal clients as an independent broker.
Paul was a parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua where he served as President of the Parish Council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus both in Nashua and Pelham, President of the Board of Directors at the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsborough, MA, a volunteer at the Nashua Symphony and the Nashua Community Concert Series.
A sister, Vivian Germain, predeceases him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara (Maloney) Germain; two daughters, Dr. Michelle Germain and her husband Dr. Joseph Pellegrini of Baltimore, MD and Danielle Germain of Washington, DC; two sisters, Rita Gagnon and Gabrielle Gaudette, both of Lowell, MA; two grandsons, Alexander Germain Pellegrini and Nicholas Joseph Pellegrini.
There were no calling hours. A celebration of Paul’s life was held on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Sky Meadow Country Club, 6 Mountain Laurels Dr., off of East Dunstable Rd in Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua. Burial followed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA, those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:15 PM. Directions will be provided at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pine Haven Boys Center, 133 River Road, Allenstown, NH 03275.
