John A. Sirvydas, 85, of Hudson, NH, passed away on December 23, 2020 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a period of declining health; ultimately succumbing to this terrible pandemic we are currently experiencing. He was the beloved husband of Marion C. (Stevenson) Sirvydas and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year. John was born January 29, 1935 in Plattsburgh, NY and was the son of the late Vytold and Anna (Jackvicte) Sirvydas.
John grew up in Rouses Point, NY, attended Rouses Point High School and graduated from D’Arcy McGee High School in Montreal, Quebec in 1954. He served 4 years in the United States Navy from 1955-1959.
John retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1990 after 30 plus years of service, primarily working out the Nashua, NH facility. During his working career, John went on to graduate from Rivier College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Social Science in 1976.
John enjoyed his family time, was a volunteer coach in multiple sports and carefully planned the annual multi-week family camping vacations when his children were young. As the family grew older, vacations transitioned to ocean front escapes in Wells, ME. John and Marion were also snowbirds and spent 20 plus winters in Florida.
John was an avid golfer, mainly playing out of Green Meadow Golf Course in Hudson, NH. He was a communicant of St. John’s the Evangelist church in Hudson, NH and St. Casimir’s/St. Patrick’s Parish in Nashua, NH. John was a member of the Nashua Elks Lodge 720.
John was predeceased by his sister and brother-in law, Gloria and Walter Dietz and is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Betty Sirvydas.
In addition to Marion, family members include his two daughters and sons-in-laws, Donna and Scott Smith of Milford, NH and Kristine and Bill Berry of Matthews, NC; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Diane Sirvydas of Hudson, NH; five grandchildren, David Allen and his wife Chelsea of Raymond, NH, Samantha (Sirvydas) Whitney and her husband Timothy of Litchfield, NH, Michael Sirvydas of Hudson, NH, Catherine Hodsdon of Exeter, NH and John Hodsdon of Exeter, NH; and two great grandchildren, Nathan Whitney of Litchfield, NH and Sariah Allen of Raymond, NH.
