Regina Marie Bischoff Knape

Regina M. Knape, 92 of Defiance, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold. She was born January 11, 1922 to Henry and Emma (Gerken) Bischoff in their home, Freedom Township.

Regina married Paul R. Knape on June 20, 1943 and he preceded her in death on December 20, 1979. She was a devoted homemaker and member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She lovingly tended her large gardens and made the best pies. Quiet and reserved, Regina centered her life around her family, home and her church.

Regina is survived by her children, Richard Knape of Defiance, Ohio, Robert (Sandy) Knape of Albuquerque, NM, Barbara Helmke of Livonia, MI, Margaret (James) Huston of West Unity, OH, Mary Ann (Luther) Gautsche of Archbold, OH, and Roger Knape of Archbold, OH; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Delora Aschemeier and Pauline Rosebrock.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, Paul Knape; brothers Herman and Paul Bischoff; sister-in-laws, Helen Bischoff and Betty Bischoff; brother-in-laws, Ray Aschemeier and Fred Rosebrock; and son-in-law, William Helmke.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14 from 4pm to 8pm at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home in Napoleon, Ohio. Visitation will continue from 10am to 11am on Monday, September 15 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Adams Ridge Road, Defiance. Funeral Services will follow at 11 am at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fairlawn Haven or to the donor’s choice.
