Alma M. Hicksted

.Alma M. Hicksted, 95, of Napoleon, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Lutheran Home of Napoleon. She was born on October 15 ,1919 to Albert and Ida (Spoering) Elling in Monroe Township, Henry County, OH. Alma was the second eldest of 9 children, and worked hard to help care for her siblings. She married Allyn Hicksted on December 28, 1941 and he preceded her in death in December of 1981. Alma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon. She was a wonderful homemaker, and also worked at Campbell’s Soup as well as seasonal work for Foster Canning, retiring in 1991. Alma enjoyed taking care of her yard and garden. She took great pride in her beautiful flower beds at her home. She was also an excellent seamstress, making dresses for her daughters as they grew up. In her later years, Alma loved to accompany her sister and brother-in-law, Lorna and Ed, to Florida where they spent the winter months. Alma also enjoyed several winters in Arizona with her daughter, Darla.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Dennis) Aschemeier of Florissant, MO, Darla (Ken) Aycock of Cottonwood, AZ, Jennie (Roger) Frost of Durango, CO, Roger (Cheryl) Hicksted of Napoleon, and Steven (Mamie) Hicksted of Napoleon; grandchildren, Kyle Aschemeier, Kristen Schrameyer, Karla Panning, Jill Burke, and Jared Frost; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Logan Schrameyer, and Serena and Kylie Burke; brother, Alfred (Virginia) Elling; and sisters, Lorna Hausch, Eleonore Glanz, and Louise Miller-Fahringer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Allyn; brothers, Paul and Rudolph Elling, infant brother, Arthur Elling, and Infant sister.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, OH. Visitation will continue on Friday, June 19 from 10am until the time of Funeral Services at 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or to the donor’s choice.
