Phyllis was born in Bay Ridge in Brooklyn, New York to James Norval McGown and Christina Sophia McGown on February 4, 1940. She graduated from Delhi University with an Associate's degree. Upon moving to Florida with her family in the 1970’s her fondest memories were spending her summers visiting her parents in Lake Placid, FL with her children enjoying fishing, boating and connecting with nature. That continued in Naples where she loved watching sunsets at the Naples Pier and long walks on the beach. She worked as a Sales Associate for Saks Fifth Ave and Jacobson at the Waterside Shops in Naples, FL for over 20 years. She volunteered her time at Poinciana Elementary School, was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Her most important job was a loving, nurturing, and beautiful mother.
Phyllis is survived by her two children: Lorraine Marie Geraghty and William Thomas Geraghty (Marcy); sister: Janet McGown Jackson (Samuel); and Michael F.X. Geraghty, the father of her two children.
Phyllis started each day watching the sunrise.
She loved sunflowers, they made her smile!
A day would not go by singing her favorite song…
You Are My Sunshine
My Only Sunshine
You Make Me Happy
When Skies are Grey
You’ll Never Know Dear
How Much I Love You
Please Don’t Take My Sunshine Away!
Phyllis had two quotes she said everyday…. “Smile” and “Be Happy”! So when you look at the sun remember to “Smile” and “Be Happy” to keep her light shining BRIGHT!
