Nancy Vaughan Cullman

Nancy was born on November 4, 1940, to Robert and Maxine Vaughan in Grandview, Ohio. Nancy graduated from Grandview High School and went on to graduate from Ohio University with a degree in speech and hearing therapy. While at OU, she met the love of her life, W. Arthur Cullman, Jr., while using his shuttle services between Columbus and Athens. She was one of his very first clients, and as the story goes, after that first ride, she always rode for free. It was truly love at first sight, and Nancy and Art were married on June 17, 1961. For more than 60 years, they were an impressive example of a devoted marriage to all who knew them.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Art Cullman, and her beloved children, Carolyn (Michael) Fulwider, Jeff (Annette) Cullman, and daughter-in-law Debbie Cullman. Nancy loved spending time with her eight adoring grandchildren, Kim (Adam) Estess, Laura (Gordon) Thompson, Will Fulwider, Morgan (Kyle) Fisher, Sam Fulwider, Dylan Cullman, Nicole Cullman, and Lauren Cullman. Nancy was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Abigail Estess, and Michael, Emmanuel, and Margaret Ann Thompson. Nancy is also survived by her brother Marty (Cindy) Vaughan, brothers-in-law Peter (Karen) and Rick (Ellen) Cullman, sister-in-law Julie (David) Cullman Egger, countless special nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many cherished friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her son, Brad Cullman, as well as her parents, Robert and Maxine Vaughan, and her brothers, Roger, Steve and David Vaughan.

Throughout her life, Nancy found joy in gardening, flower arranging, and painting. She never hosted or even attended a meal or a party without carefully creating the perfect flower arrangement for the table, especially when hosting friends and family at their cottage at Walloon Lake. Nancy was proud to be a founding member of the Four Seasons Garden Club in Columbus, Ohio, an organization for which she served as President many times. She was also an active member of the Naples Garden Club and made many arrangements for local Home and Garden Tours. Through the years, she won many awards from the Naples Garden Club Show. In her later years, Nancy and Art became active in the “Save the Monarch Butterfly Movement,” and could often be found admiring the butterflies she was raising in their home.

The family is planning a celebration of life on May 13, 2023, at The Franklin Park Conservatory The Wells Barn from 1-3 p.m.

All who were lucky enough to know Nancy can smile and remember her each time they see beautiful flowers.
