Karen Bing, 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Naples, Florida on November 13, 2020. Karen was born September 22, 1948 in Jersey City, New Jersey and raised by her loving parents, Fred and Eleanor Kunz. After graduating from Emerson High School in New Jersey, she continued to make a positive impact on many lives as a friend, sister, aunt, mother, and in one of her most cherished roles, as Nana to her five beautiful grandchildren.
She found love at an early age in New Jersey and married her high school sweetheart, Rich Bing. Karen and Rich began a 50 year journey that would take Karen to, New York State, Nebraska, Texas, Florida, and then 34 years in Centerville, Ohio. Ultimately, her love of the sun and the beach brought her to Naples, Florida for 20 years. Through all the moves, she was able to make wonderful friendships that have lasted a lifetime. She was always known no matter where she lived for her elegant Thanksgiving dinners always inviting any neighbor who might be alone. She would say “no one should be alone on Thanksgiving.”
As a mother to Kristin and Rich, she taught her children how to love, be creative, laugh, and have faith in God. These wonderful attributes only improved when she became a Nana to Kaitlyn, Connor, Reagan, Grant and Jack. The memories they have of their Nana will guide them for the rest of their lives.
Her final years serve as an inspiration for anyone facing adversity. Her life long battle with diabetes led to the need for two organ transplants over the span of 20 years. Her desire to keep fighting on combined with the love of her friends, family and her dedicated husband helped her experience much more life. Karen was a beautiful and elegant lady cherishing all the years post her organ transplants.
Karen was preceded in death by her loving parents Fred and Eleanor Kunz. She is survived by her husband Rich Bing, her children Kristin (Brian) Dye, Rich (Nicole) Bing, siblings Linda (Bob) Lee, Karla (George) Escaravage, Fred (Janet) Kunz, and her grandchildren Kaitlyn and Conner Dye and Reagan, Grant and Jack Bing.
Her private Celebration will begin at 10:00am November 20th at Hodges Funeral Home in Naples, Florida. Karen will be laid to rest the same day in a location very close to the Naples beach she loved. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
Karen firmly believed in angels and will be visiting when she is able. In the meantime, she will probably be dancing with Elvis and sending thoughts and prayers to everyone she knew.
