Julia (Julie) Elizabeth Miller was born on December 11, 1962, to Raymond W. and Alice E. Miller. Dr. Boynton commented that she was the most beautiful baby he had ever seen.
Julie's early years were spent near Naples High School on Royal Palm Drive. Later the family moved to Turtle Hatch Road in Park Shore. She and her older brother, Stuart, enjoyed fishing, sailing, scuba diving, waterskiing and spending time with their friends and family primarily on the water. Their extended family, including both sets of grandparents, was very closely connected. Her father is a civil engineer and former President and CEO of WilsonMiller, and her mother was also a community leader supporting Ray and serving in various leadership roles in Christian ministries.
Julie attended Seagate Elementary, Naples Christian Academy, Naples High School and the University of Central Florida, eventually graduating from FIU with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
She married Ross Teigen and they had three children, Sarah, Liana, and Jeffrey. They lived in Pine Ridge for many years, close to their church, Covenant Presbyterian. Eventually the family moved to Golden Gate Estates for more space to accommodate her gardens and every imaginable pet, as well as Ross’ guitar shop so that he could work at home. They attended Cypress Wood Presbyterian Church, which was close to their home.
A woman of many talents, she homeschooled her children for years, taught catechism classes at Covenant, and was an active volunteer in the church. She became a licensed massage therapist and home health aide. She had a remarkable gift for creating magic and joy wherever she went that made children love her instantly. She was free spirited, headstrong, and determined in all she did, but never forgot to send notes and bring gifts and visit family and friends alike, especially in times of need. Her loyalty to those she loved was unmatched, except by her deep faith in Christ.
Her relationship with her grandchildren was a great blessing, to her and to them. Her family were grateful to spend the last weeks of her life together, sharing stories, reading scripture, praying, and planning her move to Gainesville when she recovered, to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Julie is survived by her father (Ray Miller), brother (Stuart Miller), two daughters (Sarah West and Liana Moreno), son (Jeffrey Teigen), three grandsons (Elijah, Silas and Isaac), and granddaughter (Dania). She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Alice Miller in 2022.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28th, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Bay Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Patrick Womack officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bay Presbyterian Church.
