Joy was born in Inverness, Scotland to Georgina and Charles Robertson on September 18, 1924. She went to school on scholarship at Perth Academy Perth, Scotland and would have gone on to higher education if she had the chance. During World War II, Joy worked as a telephone operator in both Gleneagles, Scotland and in London, England. She married Harry Haxton on June 2, 1952 in Toronto, Canada. She worked as a bank teller for a number of years before retiring to spend her time as full-time mother and homemaker. She was always an active member of the Presbyterian Church and loved participating in Presbyterian women’s and bridge clubs.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and George Keys (Naples, Florida) and son and daughter-in-law Evan and Lynne Haxton (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) and their respective children and grandchildren.
Joy’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the most kind and wonderful doctors, nurses and home health aides who made Joy’s last days in her own home so comfortable.
