George was born in Havana, Cuba, on February 5, 1959. He attended Lely High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1978 to 1982, during which time he was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He served onboard the USS Nimitz and contributed to a level of war readiness that earned the crew a Battle “E” Efficiency Award Ribbon and Navy Unit Commendation. Following his Navy career, George became an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines, where he worked for over 38 years. He was passionate and dedicated to his career. George was one of few mechanics selected to restore the historic Enola Gay, the Boeing B-29 Superfortress used to drop the first atomic bomb in combat, currently displayed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Udvar-Hazy Center.
