Such sad news to only just see . Brian and my Dad Robert Ullmer were friends at school together and went on to tour europe together in a small car . He used to visit and stay with us at the the family uk home years ago and it was always lovely to see him ! I believe Brian was also my god father. RIP Brian x

I enjoyed Brian's friendship for over twenty years. Prior to the last few years he could always update me on the latest Vanderbilt Beach happenings. I do not believe anyone could ever put anything past him. He was sharp, interesting, witty, generous, and caring. I will deeply miss Brian's friendship. I would like to extend my condolences to  Brian's friends and family.

am one of Brian's many cousins here in the UK I remember Brian very fondly, we always spent Christmas together when we were young. Also many happy times on holiday in Wales where Brian would be keeping up with us able bodied youngsters as though he didn't have any disabilities, he was a great photographer, always had a camera on him and even rode a bicycle. He was a person of diverse ability. Rather than one of disability. RIP Brian. Xx Joan and WendyX

Cabana Dan here from Vanderbilt Beach.  I know you’re listening.  I am blessed to have spent many sunsets with you on Vanderbilt Beach.  You always made me laugh and forget whatever troubles I thought were big in my world. Your laughter was contagious and genuine. Your wit was sharp and dry, so perfect.   Over the years I’ve met so many people at sunset.  Faces I can recall. Names I’ve just forgotten.   But I will never forget you and the unselfish ear and time that you always had for me.  Brian, save me a spot on the front row for the  sunset in heaven. I’ll bring the beer. Love you man.  Cabana Dan.

Very fond memories of my cousin Brian, when we were very young living in Elm Park, Essex, in the years following the end of the war in 1945.
We last saw Brian when my wife and I visited Naples in 2010 where he made us very welcome. He took us everywhere and we had a great week. You could see how much he loved living in Naples. 
Since then our main contact was through Facebook. 
Rest in Peace Brian. 

I meet Brian at the beach, watching sunsets. 
For the few short years I spent in Naples Park, I loved meeting him at sunset. I used to push him around the sand. Loved his humor, he was always smiling and we used to predict if a green flash night or not. 
We made folks cringe at the grocery store, he would ask me to get items off the top shelf and in turn I would ask him to collect items off the lower shelves. Strangers would glare at us unaware we knew each other.
Brian as I write this you are making me smile. 
Glad you are at peace my friend.

I first met Brian in 1998. I relocated to Naples Florida to work for the Post Office and was looking for an apartment. Brian posted an ad for an apartment he was renting where his lease could only be broken by finding another tenant. I took the apartment, moved into the home where I later purchase and remain here to date. Brian bought the house across the street where he lived out his life until Hurricane Ian changed everything. Brian was a very generous, kind and giving man. He welcomed me to Naples by showing me his kindness and generosity. Brian was always a great conversationist and always enjoyed blending in with people everywhere at the beach. I will miss him each time I pass his home. May he forever rest in peace.

This is Paulette and Alan, Brian’s English friends of 30 years plus. So glad we came and visited you for 3 weeks in June Brian. I loved cooking you your favourite eggs, beans and fried potatoes. Followed by fresh off the tree mangoes and ice cream. I was surprised at how much mango and ice cream you could eat! I am sad not to see you again but know that to go peacefully in your sleep was what you wanted. So all our memories of you Brian will be happy ones! Rest in peace.

Brian shared with me he wasn’t expected to live beyond 59 years. To say polio gave him challenges since he was a kid is an understatement.  Despite these challenges, he pushed forward quite independently, and he remained in his home until 85 years of age. I’m proud of Brian and blessed to have known him. His stubborn, ornery disposition, and occasional gift of a smile & a laugh will be missed by his neighbors!
