It is with profound sorrow & sadness that the family of Ragnar AJ Donald announce his passing on October 24th, 2024, at the age of 25 years. Thus, leaving a legacy of kindness, generosity and unwavering dedication to those around him.
Ragnar was born on April 30th,1999, at St Anthony's General hospital in Manitoba to Jodi Campbell and Leo Donald, who then resided in The Pas MB. He will forever be remembered and missed by the love of his parents, cherished by uncle Benjamin Campbell, Grandmothers Sharon Eirikson and Ellie Donald. Aunties; MJ Donald and Sue Landen, and Godmother Lisa Marcinyshyn. Many lifelong friendships with Justice Eisener, Bryant Sandifer, Braeden Lawson, Ryen Ross, Shianne Elliott, Jordan Lowe, and many many more.
Ragnar is predeceased by his Grandfathers John Donald October 14th, 2023, and Clarence Campbell August 21st,1998.
Ragnar’s roots were in the Yukon with Kevin Moore: who raised Ragnar as his own, before moving to Vancouver Island where he eventually settled in Nanaimo with his mother to be closer to his grandma and uncle. Ragnar also held a close relationship with John Kirkham in his final years as a father figure and role model.
Sadly, Ragnar faced challenges with his mental health in the last few years: but for those who knew him, he was a lively, compassionate, and funny soul who could bring people together effortlessly. Ragnar had a knack for turning every situation into something fun and adventurous. Ragnar had a huge heart. He found joy & solace in his drawings and music.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Royal Jubilee and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, SUSO team, Clearview Detox Centre, Edgewood Treatment Facility and all of the paramedics involved in Nanaimo and Saanich areas and a heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Trish Caddy, Dr Mike Flesher, Dr. Hunter, and many more, for your kind and compassionate care you gave Ragnar. He could not have done it this far without you all.
We would like to invite all of Ragnar’s family, friends and sober community to join us in honoring him at Dignity First Memorial on November 30, 2024, from 1pm until 3pm. Followed by non-formal celebration of life from 5pm-9pm, to be held at Bowen Park Clubhouse to honor his memorable soul of love and laughter for the people in his life. His spirit will be deeply missed by all who were lucky to know him. In Lieu of cards and flowers we will be reaching out at a later time for donations towards a memorial bench at our local skate park.
