It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Norman Koch (Pops).
Norm was born on April 5th, 1945, to Roy and Gertrude Koch in Listowel, Ontario. He left school to work on the family farm which he later took over with his then wife Mary Crispin. Children Jacquie, Jennifer and Graham arrived soon after. The family moved west to Campbell River BC in 1979 where he started his career with Coca-Cola. He then met Marlene Emde his beloved “Sweet Pea” and her daughters Kimberly and Kelly. They moved to Nanaimo BC in 1992 and enjoyed many happy years together.
Norm was known for his hard work, kindness, and generosity. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and strangers in need. Norman found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from mowing his wonderful neighbours lawns with a beer in hand to watching curling and cheering for his favorite teams, the Blue Jays and Canucks. He was happiest when a friend (or even better, a grandchild) popped in for a visit for a cold one or maybe a game of crib.
Norm is predeceased by his parents, his wife Marlene Koch, his cousin who was more like a brother Fred Miller, his brother in-laws Dennis Luckhardt and Bruce Hallman. He was loved and will be forever missed by his children Jacquie (Al) Chellew, Jennifer (Karina) Koch, Graham (Cindi) Koch, Kimberly Brunelle (Sheldon), and Kelly Brunelle. His grandchildren, Justin, Brian, Chelsea, Jenni, Stephanie, Emily and Bethany. His sisters Audrey Luckhardt and Thelma Hallman, sister/brother in laws Valerie, Wayne and Ron Emde and their families.
Cheers to you, Pops. Until we meet again
There will be a celebration of Norms life held at a later date.
