Konetzka, Helen Lindsay, late of Parksville, BC passed away at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by her first husband, William (Jack) John Moore, and sisters Elizabeth Willing and Joan Ippen. She is survived by her husband Herbert Konetzka, her brother James Black (Sharon), her children, John(Nadine), Robert(Lisa), Jo-Anne(Kevin), David William, Marguerite, Carol and David John. Helen was most proud of her grandchildren, Rebecca(Geoffrey), Cameron(Ayla), Bryce, Braeden, Keira and Christy and her great grandchild Connor. Sadly, Helen didn’t get a chance to meet her beautiful new great grandchild, Isaac, before she passed.
Helen was born on May 11, 1942 in Vancouver, BC and spent many happy years growing up in a large extended family. A talented pianist, Helen performed on various radio shows growing up. After graduating from Magee Secondary School in 1960 and before she married Jack Moore on August 17, 1962, Helen enjoyed a year working abroad and living with our beloved Auntie Nellie in London, UK. Early married life saw Helen and Jack residing briefly in Toronto before returning to BC and settling in Port Alberni where they raised their four children before Jack’s untimely death in 1980.
Helen married Herb on December 29, 1984 in the middle of a raging snow storm. It was with the determination equal to that storm that saw Herb and Helen find great joy in 36 years of family, travel, fishing and camping.
Helen was very active in the United and Reform Churches as a choir member and in leadership. Her lifelong passion for music saw her performing in a barbershop quartet for many years.
In 1990 Helen and Herb retired to Nanoose Bay and later in 2014 moved to French Creek.
Please join us in Celebration of Helen’s life at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at St. Columba Presbyterian in Parksville, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nanaimo General Hospital Foundation.
The family would like to extend deep gratitude to the dedicated staff in the Emergency Room, 6th floor and Rehabilitation Unit of the Nanaimo Regional Hospital for the kind and sensitive care they provided our mom through Covid, when we could not be with her.
