Donna Marie Hickey

With deep sadness; we announce the passing of Donna.

Mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. Pre-deceased by her parents; Hazel and Mervin Holden, daughter; Nadine Walser, bother Ken, brother Gary, sister Carol and beloved husband; Austin Hickey. She will be greatly missed by her sisters; June and Marion. Her children; Fred, Jeff, Steven, Darrell, and Jamie. Her grandchildren, Rozzlyne, Kristine, Ally, Derek, and Dryden. And finally her great grandchildren; Ryleigh, Jack, Asher, Milo and Isaac, as well as many wonderful friends!

Donna and Austin packed up the kids in 1967 and made the relocation from London Ontario to Vancouver Island. They made Nanaimo their home and created a beautiful life together.

Donna blazed a trail for women of all ages through time, and set so many examples for all who knew her, as she progressed through her life.

Donna was able to retire at 60, therefore her and Austin spent a few winters in Southern California, enjoying everything that lifestyle offered.

Donna’s family was her absolute pride and joy, committed to us all in every way. In her last few months, she was still holding on strong to her amazing independence. Getting a scooter and cruising around town, bringing her so much joy through a trying time. A fighter until a peaceful end. Until we meet again. Rest easy Donna.
