Amanda passed peacefully May 9 at NRGH…with loved ones by her side.
Although Amanda battled Muscular Dystrophy from a very young age, it never stopped her from living a very active life and fulfilling many dreams. Amanda graduated from Dover Bay in 2004 and later studied Art History at VIU. Amanda loved to travel and nothing was impossible to her, even navigating Manhattan in a wheelchair (twice) so she could view some of her favorite paintings.
Amanda represented the MD Foundation, Canuck Place and Easter Seals helping to fund raise and bring awareness to the amazing work these organizations do. She has been a source of inspiration to so many people over the years and also consoled many especially during her years of visits to Canuck Place.
Inspiration is her legacy.
Amanda is survived by her parents Jennifer and Cal, grandparents Gus and Marilyn Gillespie and countless uncles, aunts and cousins. She is reunited with her grandparents Val and Jeanne Pelletier and some very close friends Jessica, Rachael, Jessie and Shaun who also passed far too young. We would like to thank our exceptional caregivers who over the years provided Amanda with love, support and friendship.
Amanda will be forever in our hearts and memories.
In Lieu of flowers a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, Canuck Place or Easter Seals would be greatly appreciated.
Her celebration of life will come at a later date.
