Alan Kenneth Clavora

Alan passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024 with family by his side. Predeceased by parents Bruno and Jackie (Stannard) Clavora, Alan is survived by his wife Delaine, daughter Hayley (Colin Dixon), son Nathan (Kalli) and 4 grandsons – Chase & Cooper Dixon, Maddex & Lincoln Clavora. He was also leaves siblings Tricia Jeffs, Ann Larose (Laurie), Mark (Irene), nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Alan was a native son of Nanaimo and lived here most of his life. In his youth, he attended Fairview, Barsby, Woodlands and NDSS schools. Alan enjoyed and was active in many sports. He was very social and had many friends. A Red Seal bricklayer by trade, he built many a fireplace in the 70s and 80s in Nanaimo. Alan prided himself on his quality workmanship and work ethic. A workplace accident forced Alan to change his livelihood and he became a rep for United Flooring. Alan spent many happy and productive years with United. He loved working with his clients and the camaraderie of his co-workers.

Alan caught the travel bug as a young adult and travelled as much as he could. He enjoyed memorable trips to Europe, Asia, Caribbean, Mexico and the US. He was a great handyman and could do almost everything he set him mind to. Alan showed his artistic side by creating vintage window mirrors, woodworking projects and building children’s furniture.

Alan loved Nanaimo and Vancouver Island but his special place to be was the family cabin on Cameron Lake. Throughout his life, he spent many happy times there with his family and friends. Alan loved his family deeply and they loved him. He was a very special man. Alan was quick to smile, a people person and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Alan’s sister Ann and husband Laurie for the unwavering support and love given to Alan on his long, difficult journey with heart disease and dementia. We would also like to thank the following individuals for their contribution to Alan’s well-being and happiness – Derek Morgan, Barry ONeill, Bill Mcpherson, Tim Hartman, Carla Ellice, Andy Dixon (D), Carmen & Colin Paul.

Thank you to AgeCare Malaspina for the care and compassion given to Alan this past year. There will be a gathering in remembrance of Alan in the spring. Details to follow.
