Robert Eugene Murdock was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on November 20, 1953 to Truitt Hambrick Murdock and Betty Joy Lyles Murdock. He passed from this life on Thursday, June 20, 2024 in Jacksonville, Texas attaining the age of 70 years and 7 months.
Truitt and Betty Joy had four sons and they raised them in Elgin, Texas where Robert graduated from the Elgin High School. Out of high school, he joined the United States Navy where he served his country for 4 years. Bob served aboard the USS Independence. Following his honorable discharge, he joined with the Merchant Marines for a life career. Following his release he returned to Martinsville and then making his home in Alto, Texas.
Bob was raised in the Elgin First Baptist Church and much of his training followed him. He was a Christian, loved to read the Bible, and treasured the ability to do so.
Robert is survived by two brothers, Marc Murdock and Greg Murdock, both of Alto; his aunts and uncles, Alice Fay and Bob, Gloria and Mark, and Melba; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends, especially Billy Germany who provided much care and attention to him and the family.
His parents, Truitt and Betty Joy Murdock, and one brother, Gary Clyde Murdock, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held in the Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. A time of Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.
Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors will be in charge of arrangements.
