Phillip Louis Cammarata

He is survived by his children, Dominic Cammarata, and wife, Vanessa of Foley, of Alabama; and Teresa Millard and husband, George III, of Nacogdoches, Texas; and his five grandchildren, Tim Jr., Phillip, Taylor, Nina and Alissa; six step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Curtis, Maia, Jean-Pierre, Joslyn, Joshua; and four step-great-grandchildren, Isabella, Elliot, Leonila, and Zander. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Dawn Nolen Cammarata; and his parents, Domenico and Margherita Cammarata.

Phillip was born in Bisacquino, Sicily, Italy on December 6, 1926 to Domenico & Margherita Cammarata. He immigrated to the United State in 1950 aboard the Vulcania and was processed through Ellis Island. He then traveled to Houston, Texas, to live with an uncle who had previously immigrated to the US. It was in Houston that he met Nelda and they were married June 4, 1960. He worked for many years as an electrician, then in 1968, he built his dream. He was the owner/host of The Falls Restaurant on Rayford Road from 1968-1976. A fire destroyed the restaurant on Easter Sunday in 1974. Phillip rebuilt his dream but it was not the same and in 1976 the business closed and he went back to work as an electrician. Upon his retirement in 1993, he was a proud member of the IBEW 716.

Throughout his life he has been a devout member of the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Spring, Texas. In response to a miracle in his infancy in response to a prayer his mother had made to St. Therese to intercede on his behalf, he had a special affinity for St. Therese of Lisieux and was a continued supporter of the sanctuary dedicated to St. Therese in Verona, Italy.

During his life, Phillip was an avid chef, hunter, traveler, and gardener, who enjoyed sharing his crops with others. He and Nelda took multiple trips to his native Italy. Many of these trips coincided with the Feast of Madonna del Balzo in his hometown of Bisacquino. Phillip was also a story-teller who loved telling of his experiences and talking religion and politics to anyone who would listen. He especially loved his family and the times when everyone gathered together.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 7:00 in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Road in Spring. Following the service, the Rite of Committal will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
