James Eugene Adams of Nacogdoches passed away September 13, 2019, in Nacogdoches at the age of 87. He was born December 19, 1931, in Shady Grove to parents James Earl Adams and Rosa Mae (Washburn) Adams.
Eugene was a dairy farmer who loved his cows and his farm. He worked hard to provide for his family, and he taught his children the value of that hard work. He enjoyed traveling to Colorado or Branson where he would enjoy his country music. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.
Mr. Adams never met a stranger. He was always interested in seeing other dairy farms and trying to see how he could improve his own farm. He had a close bond with his sisters and loved having fun with them.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glenda Parmley Adams; wife, Erma Mae Adams; and brother, Linville Adams.
He is survived by his sons, Daryl Eugene Adams and wife Jenny and James Lynn Adams; daughter, Carylon Goldsberry; sisters, Eloise Greenville, Joyce Wilson, and Faye Perry and husband Al; grandchildren, Mary Lucas, April Scroggins, Lance Adams, Amber Adams, Dwayne Goldsberry and wife Shirley, Crystal Adams, Jessica Adams, and Amanda Dickert and husband Gary; great-grandchildren, Shelby Smallwood and husband Michael, Alanna Goldsberry, Kaden Dickert, and Lincoln Dickert; and great great-grandchildren, Rider Smallwood and Matthew Smallwood.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral immediately following at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel officiated by Bro. Paul Sevar and Bro. Al Perry. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dwayne Goldsberry, Gary Dickert, Greg Adams, James Perry, Tim Perry, Steve Greenville and George Perry.
