A memorial service for Howard will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. at First Church of God, 3900 Appleby Sand Road, Nacogdoches, Texas, Senior Pastor, Jason McClendon will be officiating.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Hillcrest-Mizell-Faville- Zern Funeral Home at 6411 Parker Ave, West Palm Beach, Florida, from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 am with Reverend David Fraiser, officiating. Interment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in West Palm Beach, Florida, with military rites performed by the United States Army.
Howard was known for his wry humor and friendly personality. In his younger years, he was very active with young people in his community. He was a graduate of Northwestern Bible College and a faithful member of Forest Hill Alliance Church. He enjoyed many activities including being a member of Forest Hill Alliance Church Choir #5, Alliance Men’s quartet, teaching Junior High Sunday School, serving all positions at the Military Park on the Volunteer Fire Department , ending his career as Commissioner of District #4. He was an Explorer Scout Master, NRA Rifle Marksmanship Instructor, and Brotherhood Member Order of the Arrow.
He was a skilled craftsman and loved to make things with his hands including exact scale model airplanes. He served our country in the Army during World War ll. He was compassionate toward his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his spouse, June Audrey; sons, Stanley H. Josephsen, and wife, Lisa, of California, Steven A. Josephsen, and wife, Brenda, of Texas; daughters, Sheri J. Swanson of California and Crystal L. Watson of Florida; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Gene H. Josephsen of Illinois; and sister, Carol L. Whitlock and husband Ken of Florida.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice C. Josephsen; and brothers, Donald L. and Robert L. Josephsen.
