She was born in Mount Enterprise, Texas on August 18, 1942. Helen is the 8th sibling of 10 children in the Seelbach family.
She is survived by two sisters, Sue Sullivan and Carolyn Jo Seelbach. One brother, Don Seelbach and multiple nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Skinner, Parents Elmer and Anna Caver Seelbach. Siblings: Billie Poteet, John Seelbach, Bettie Whatley, Charles Seelbach, Maurice Malinowski-Dunn, and Dean Seelbach.
Helen was a career phone operator for Southwestern Bell/AT&T where she made lifelong friends. She was part of a special group called the “Fearsome Foursome.”
She was happiest spending time with family and friends. She loved wine tastings, traveling especially with her sisters and time spent having morning coffee on her front porch.
But Above All Else: Helen was known for her quick wit, sense of humor and love of practical jokes. Having been sick for the last few years she never lost the ability to have funny “comebacks” with everyone, including her doctors, nurses, and caregivers.
Here are a few favorite adventures or activities from her caregivers. “She liked riding in her car in circles around town and then having hamburgers at the park.” “While waiting to see the eye doctor Helen was tired of waiting so she had her caregiver take her outside and push her around the parking lot in circles.”
“One caregiver made sure Helen was doing her daily exercises and when she discovered Helen’s way of counting, she decided to count for her, much to Helen’s dismay.” “One caregiver had a nightly ritual of having to reassure Helen, she had given her the nightly meds each night.”
The family wants to give special thanks to all her Caregivers for all their love and support of Helen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charity/Organization of your choice.
The family is asking everyone to wear jeans with red or yellow tops to honor Helen’s favorite colors.
