Ray Robberson went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 28, 2018 supported and surrounded by his loving family and friends in Nacogdoches, Texas. Dewain Ray Robberson was born on November 29, 1958 in Houston, Texas to Robert Donald Robberson and Sharon Kay Miller Robberson. Ray graduated High School in Mansfield, Texas and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He graduated from Texas State Technical College and later obtained his bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Ray was a proud member of IBEW Local Union 527. He worked at SFA for over 15 years and created quite a legacy, earned numerous awards, including the prestigious President’s Award and a Mentor for Life University ring. Ray founded the Lumberjack for Life SFA University Ring Award and presented it to the first SFA alumni this spring.
Ray was a man that pushed himself to the limit, never took a day off, and was always there to lend a helping hand. He loved serving the Lord, his country and his fellow man and adored and rescued animals of every kind. He particularly enjoyed traveling with his soulmate Jacque. All who met him will be forever blessed.
Ray is survived by his wife, Dr. Jacqueline L. Hilton Robberson of Nacogdoches; mother, Sharon Kay Robberson Hastedt; siblings, Robert Donald Robberson and wife Cayla of Manvel, TX, Rhonda Kaye Robberson of League City, TX, Renee Suzanne Robberson Dunkin and husband Marvin of La Porte, TX; father and mother-in-law, Dr. Jack Hilton and Judy Hilton of Nacogdoches; sister-in-law, Tonya K. Madden and husband Marcus of Nacogdoches, sister-in-law, Sarah Amanda Brantley and husband Matthew of Nacogdoches and brother-in-law, Richard and Crystal Garrett of Spring, TX; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Robberson and step-father, William Hastedt; sister-in-law, Teresa Lynn Robberson and nephew, Larry Charles Robberson.
A celebration of life will be held, 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Hospital St. Nacogdoches, TX. Please wear purple to show your SFA pride. A reception at the church will follow.
