Sue was born September 11, 1938, in New Summerfield, Texas, to parents J.A. Lee and Ethel Dennis Lee. She had lived in Nacogdoches, Texas, for most of her life. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church as well as Kountze Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as worthy matron.
Mrs. Buckner had spent many years providing in-home child care in Nacogdoches. She later worked several years with the Nacogdoches Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing “42” and was always up for a game.
Outdoors were very important to Sue. She loved gardening and growing flowers. Another favorite past time was fishing—always having the pole, tackle box, and a folding chair in the car ready.
She was married to George Edward Buckner on January 26, 1957. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1980. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ethelyne Lang; and brothers, Hubert Lee, James Ray “Jim” Lee, and Lesley Lee.
Her survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Suezanne and Jerry Bear; granddaughters, Emilee Bear and Sarah Bear; and a step-grandson, Justin Bear, all of Humble, Texas.
