Its been alot of years since we've seen eachother, i'm sorry we never got a chance too!  Remember 1st & 2nd grade at Benjamin School?  Remember when i was the only one that showed up at your birthday party when we were in grade school?  Ed Sout passed away last year i'm gonna miss you as much as I do him...we all grew up together.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys, he will be missed greatly. I'll be seeing you at Menards.

Aunt Sherry, we are thinking of you and send our love.  Uncle Ron was such a wonderful person and we will miss him.  We sure enjoyed the time we got to spend with you both when you came to visit us in Sitka.  Uncle Ron was so amazed at all the salmon in the stream and the great halibut fishing!  The boat rides were great too...eagles, mountain goats, deer.  What a fun time we had with you.  The kindness you both showed us when we were in Michigan will never be forgotten.  Jim sure appreciated Uncle Ron sharing his deer stand with him and the fishing trips he took him on.  May God comfort you in your time of sorrow.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers. My Uncle Ron was one of those extraordinary people on Earth who held such worth to God that He chose to take his angel back to Heavens Gates.   Though we have immense grief we must take comfort that Uncle Ron is in the warm arms of God feeling no pain, having no sorrow, and in his favorite deer hunting stand in the plentiful hunting grounds of the eternal life in Glory.  For those of us who stay behind for now; lean on your faith and know â€œBlessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.â€ Mathew 5:4

Sadly, Ron and I went seperate ways when I was 17 years old and he was nine. I left home to pursue a career in the Army and Ron later joined the Marine Corps and served a year of combat in Vietnam.  After Ron exited the service, he learned to build things. I visited him when he was building his own home and envied the skills my brother had learned.  I had always wanted to have the skills he had but that was never to be.  We saw each other all too infrequently over the years and finally I persuaded Ron to visit me in Arizona to join me for an Elk hunt.  He arrived, we packed up the cold weather and hunting gear and headed for Northern Arizona.  On this trip, Ron was determined to learn the basics of his new GPS.  Jimmy, my son and Ron left the truck and entered the deep woods to find an elk.   Unknown to me Ron had entered all of the waypoints and landmarks in his new GPS and was planning on following his exact footsteps back to the truck.  When the wind started blowing I blew the truck horn repeatedly to locate them until I spied two people running toward the truck from the woods.  Being that I am slightly elderly, they thought I was trying to signal them that I was having a heart attack.  When they found that I wasn't, Ron offered to help me have one if I ever did that again.  We laughed about that incident more than once.  We had a great time on the hunt and I got to know Him much better.  My heart goes out to Sherry and all of the family and I am so sad that we cannot build upon our friendship.  Goodbye little Brother, I love you and all the memories I have of you. We shall meet again.  Your Brother Jim.

“Death is a personal journey that each individual approaches in his or her own unique way.  Nothing is concrete; nothing is set in stone.  There are many paths one can take on this journey, but all lead to the same destination.”  

Early Monday morning – December 5, 2011 - our family lost a beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Uncle.  Ron Bunting concluded his journey in this life, his destination being Heaven. 

Those of us left behind - his beautiful wife Sherry, his children, his brothers and sisters, his nieces and nephews – must remain here and deal with broken hearts.  We were not ready to give Uncle Ron up, but God never allows us more suffering than we can handle.  He took Uncle Ron by the hand at the appointed time and now, his home is Heaven, sharing the bread of life with Jesus (and no doubt, also enjoying some of mama's "heavenly" German potato salad)!

Dealing with the death of someone we love dearly is one of the most difficult things we must endure.  There is no fixed timetable or method for grieving, and do not believe anyone who tells you otherwise.  But, I believe it is the responsibility of those left behind to continue in this world - doing the best we can in faith and in love - until the time comes for us to join those we love.  In doing this, we honor the ones who have passed on before us.  In doing this, we will honor Uncle Ron.  Each of us will find our own unique way of healing when we give ourselves the gift of time, and in the peace and quiet, the answer(s) to our question(s) will come to us.  Jesus assured us that “those who mourn shall be comforted.”  

I have heard said that it is impossible for someone to have hope when they are facing certain death.  However, I promise you that there is hope for the dying.  A dying person has an amazing capacity for hope; he may no longer hope for a cure, or for another 5 years, but he may hope to say goodbye to loved ones and die peacefully at home.  This was possible for Uncle Ron, thanks to Aunt Sherry's deep love and support, the efforts of his brothers and sisters, and of Hospice.

Uncle Ron always kept a good joke handy and a genuine laugh ready.  He loved his family.  He loved and used the gifts God gave him for home and for work.  He enjoyed his life and made the best of it while he had the strength to do so.  He is, and will always be loved and remembered with pleasure and respect.  Though no longer physically with us, Uncle Ron has not left us.  Rather, he is living in another place - a place full of love and of peace - waiting for us to complete our own journey so we can join him along with the others we have loved and lost in this world.

I love you, Uncle Ron!  You will be dearly missed.  I will not say good-bye…good-bye's are too permanent, only “So long…I will definitely see you later!” 

I love you, Aunt Sherry.  I know you are grieving one minute and numb the next, but I hope, as you continue down the path of this life as best as you can, that you will find comfort in the fact that you will again see your beloved husband and friend when you complete your own journey.

I became a part of the Bunting family when Monica and I were married in Monterey, California on December 7, 1985.  It is hard sometimes to be a family member, estranged by distance and circumstance only. It was years later before I personally met the rest of your precious family in Michigan.

While Grandma Mildred was yet with us, I spoke frequently with her, both of us with hopes of finally meeting each other, but as destiny would have it, she departed this life without us ever having met face to face.  We did get to say we loved each other though, and again, that helped me feel a little closer to the Bunting family.

I did not get to meet, in person, any of the Bunting family who lived in Michigan until I met Uncle Ron in 2009, shortly after mom passed away.  

Uncle Ron arrived in December of 2009, to meet up with dad for a hunting trip in Northern Arizona.  Dad, Jimmy and I were awaiting his arrival at the Airport.  Even though we had never met, I was able to pick him out of a rolling crowd of 100 or so people.  You guys just got that look!  Ha ha!

Anyway, I said that since he was obviously younger than I was, he must be my "Young-cle." Dear Ron almost fell over laughing! Thus began a wonderful relationship with an amazing person whom I am so proud to call Uncle Ron, Ron or "Young-cle."

Ron and I hit it off, and immediately became close, both having many things in common.  With respect for family, our time in Arizona was short, as I had to return to South Carolina to go back to work.  However, I left Arizona with what I think of as a "welcome to the family" type of blessing from Ron, and an invitation that any time I came to Michigan I would always be welcome in his home.  It was then, because of him, that I began to feel more of a part of the Bunting family in Michigan.

Next, came my first trip to Michigan where I met the rest of the Bunting Clan - all wonderful people - and it was worth it!

Finally, there is Ron's better half - Sherry.  Obviously, my "Y'aunt,"  since she is much younger than I am.  Sherry, I want you to know how much I love you and Ron.  Words cannot express how much I love you two.  I must say that you both are very special to me and I feel close to each of you.  I will miss seeing Ron, but he will always be a joyful and blessed part of my life, and I will see him again in the Glory of our Lord. 

Sherry, as Ron offered his invitation to me, I now offer the same to you.  Any time that you can come to South Carolina, you will always be welcome in my home.  You are in our prayers and in our hearts.

Know this, you are special and you are loved, and if there is anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to ask. God bless you and keep you.

    A loved one lost can grieve the heart, and make us yearn for tomorrow, when God will keep the promise he made of no pain, no death, no sorrow.
