Josie Villarreal Morris

1932-2023

Josie V. Morris, aged 91, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023, in Riverside County, California.

Josie was born in Robstown, Texas in 1932 to Antonio and Anita. Josie was a graduate of Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Josie moved to San Diego, California in the early 1950s with her mother Anita and stepfather Robert.

In 1957, Josie met Tom Morris. A whirlwind romance of six weeks turned into a loving marriage that lasted over 65 years. They made their home in the San Diego neighborhood of Clairemont, where the raised two sons.

They shared a love of family road trips to national parks and to visit relatives throughout the country. They also loved long strolls by Mission Bay.

After several years of working in the home, Josie took a job with the County of San Diego for 10 years before she and Tom retired together.

Josie was a creative soul. She had a love of music and art. She loved to sing, which she did beautifully. Whenever she was working around the house, she was guaranteed to break into song.

Josie also enjoyed drawing, painting, stained glass, sewing, and crocheting. She leaves behind treasured drawings and paintings. Blankets that she crocheted for her children, still serve them warmly to this day.

Josie’s husband Tom preceded her death in October 2023. She is survived by her beloved 10 half-siblings, two sons, and two grandchildren.
