Leila Louise Beals, 93, of Morton, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1931, in Adna to Solomon Ralph and Emily (Curtis) Ralph. Leila was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathleen Lucille Woods, her husband David Lewis Beals, and her daughter Cynthia Howell.
Leila graduated from Adna High School in 1949. On October 8, 1949, she married David Lewis Beals in Adna, and moved to Morton in 1953, where they spent over 50 years together raising their family until David's passing in 2000. Their union was blessed with a son, David Lynn Beals, and daughters Kathleen Denise Hedrick, Cynthia Marie Howell, and Cheri Anne Gragert.
Leila’s life was rich with love for family and a deep involvement in her community. She was known for her passion for cooking and baking, enjoying time spent in the kitchen preparing meals for loved ones. She also found joy in reading, needlework, bowling, and traveling. Leila was an active member of the Lutheran Church and the Senior Center, where she built lasting friendships.
She is survived by her son, David Lynn Beals (Tammy), daughters Kathleen Denise Hedrick (Glenn), Cheri Anne Gragert (Pat), and her grandchildren, Traci, Rachel, Erin, Sean, Travis, Ashley, Chris, Jeff, Hunter, and Jordan. Additionally, she is survived by her greatgrandchildren, Colton, Ryanne, Brynden, Justin, Andrew, Hayden, Briar, Coco, River, Anders, Teddy, Remington, Emerson, Ivy, Chance, and Irish, as well as her great-greatgrandchildren, Kaleigha and Otto.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Heritage House and all the friends and family who supported Leila throughout her life.
A viewing will be held at Brown Mortuary in Morton on April 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Her funeral will take place at Central Lutheran Church on April 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a reception to celebrate her life at the Bob Lyle Community Center in Morton on April 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Leila will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness, warmth, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
