Paul E. Schwartz, age 86, of Bean Station, TN formerly of Williamson, WV passed away peacefully at his home on May 2, 2023 with his family by his side following a long battle with cancer. Mr. Schwartz was born in Williamson, WV on November 22, 1936, the son of the late Frank and Gertrude (Richardson) Schwartz.
He attended Williamson High School. Following high school, he became a master electrician. He was drafted into the Army during the peacetime draft and completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky and upon completion of basic training, was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. After the Army, he spent several years working various positions within the coal mining industry in southern WV and eastern KY, eventually retiring from Massey Coal Company. In addition to his work as a master electrician, Paul was also a skilled carpenter, plumber and mason, having built or remodeled several homes for his family to reside. He was a devout Christian, loved the Lord and was baptized as East Williamson Baptist Church in WV as a teenager. While in Tennessee, he was a member of the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Rutledge.
Paul was a devoted family man, loving his wife, children, and grandchildren. His family will remember him as a great husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Roberta (Murphy) to whom he was married on April 8, 1961. Son, Kenneth L. Schwartz (Heather) of Springfield, VA; daughter, Deborah L. Schwartz of Bean Station, TN; grandchildren, Tyler Schwartz, Steven Schwartz and Caitlin Schwartz; great grandchildren, Caroline, Trenton and Savannah Schwartz and sister, Carol Leffingwill of Chesapeake, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Marvin, Donald, Teddy and Arnold and sister Ethel Peck.
His family would like to say a special Thank You to the nurses of Covenant Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Hamblen Memory Gardens for a 2:00 PM graveside service, officiated by Rev. Tom Wells.
