On August 4, 2015, James Edward Simmons, or as we called him, Jim, passed away. He was very talented working with vehicles of many makes and models, both under the hood as well as body work. Husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, Jim will be missed. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jesse Gardner Simmons and Nannie Bell Holt Simmons. Jim is survived by his faithful wife of 27 years, Nancy Winegar Simmons; sons, Greg (Marty) Simmons, Jeff (Lyn) Simmons; mother of his sons, Joan (Steve) Messamore; brothers, Jerry (Ida) Simmons, Steve (Barbara) Simmons; grandchildren, Zac Simmons, Shawn Simmons, Lucas Simmons, Callie Simmons, all of Morristown; mother-in-law, Pauline Winegar; brothers-in-law, Eddie (Linda) Winegar, Jimmy Winegar; sisters-in-law, Patricia LaRoy and Ida Pearl Winegar, all of Rogersville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, along with friends who were just as special to him, as were his family. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Marks and Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Family and friends will meet in Hamblen Memory Gardens at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 – 8:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Arrangements by Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown.
