Chris was born in Morristown, Tennessee on August 21, 1968 and was a loving son to John and Sherry (Moffitt) Shipley.
At age 17, he joined the United States Army as a Tank Repair Specialist and would continue his career to serve our great country for over 21 years. Chris served with valor and distinction as a Soldier, and retired as a Master Sergeant. He then furthered his service to our nation by taking a position with TACOM as a LAR\Logistics Assistance Representative where he would work for another 14 years until his retirement. Chris was an absolute patriot, and those who worked alongside him described him as a great friend, leader, and mentor. He earned countless awards for dedicated service.
Chris could radiate positive energy anywhere he went with his infectious smile and witty humor. He easily captivated and amused people with his magnetic personality. He was a proud father of two beautiful daughters whom he loved very much and would do anything for. He loved music, knew all the words, and really enjoyed sharing the experience of music with those close to him. Chris was a “get it done” kind of guy. He would often boast he gets more done before 9am than most people do in a day. He had a wealth of talents and skills that he shared with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues regularly. He and his wife, Leslie, enjoyed spending time working together to maintain houses, cars, the yard, anything and everything. They just loved being together. Chris enjoyed watching cooking shows right up to the end, and had a knack for putting a really good meal together. He absolutely loved Tennessee sports, especially football. He refereed high school football games for 16 years and really got a kick out of bantering with the players and his crew. Chris also enjoyed fishing, hunting, Nascar, traveling, concerts, and game nights with family and friends, among many other things.
He is preceded in death by his dear father, John, (whom he learned so much from).
Those left to cherish his memory are his:
loving mother: Sherry Shipley (whom he cherished, loved deeply and respected),
devoted wife: Leslie DuLac (his one and only true love, he would say),
beautiful daughters: Heather (Brad) Collins, and Brooke Shipley (his babies, his pride, and always part of his heart),
caring step-children: Simon (Jordan), Andrew, Thomas, Jonah, and Elizabeth DuLac (5 children he took on and created loving relationships with),
adored grandchildren: Parker, Maddilyn, Branson, step-grandchildren Maddox and Rosalie (He LOVED the grandbabies),
dear sister Trucilla Shipley, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was loved very much and will be greatly missed by so many.
