She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church and spent much of her youth playing the piano and singing with her sister, Sandra, in a quartet. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Carson Newman College, Cum Laude, in 2 ½ years while raising her three children.
She loved her students during her 34-year teaching career for Grainger Co. Schools. Elaine was a published author of both poetry and music. Publications include Awesome Joy!, 1989; “Trailing a Rainbow,” 1990; “Successful Persuasion” in Hollywood Gold (lyrics on cassette album and single record), 1990; “Hollowed Free?” 1995; “As Angels Fly,” 1997; and many others. She was a business owner/operator and member of Natl. Assoc. for Female Executives, awarded International Who’s Who of Entrepreneurs, 1997. She was awarded Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, chosen by her students for several years. Memberships included Grainger Co. Educ. Assoc.; D.A.R.E.; Rep. of American Assoc. for Lost Children, Inc.; Rep. of Missing Children Awareness Foundation, Inc.; and lifetime member of NRA.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Thelma (Cloud), and father, Clifford Darrell Odom.
She leaves behind her children Lisa Diann (Roger) Stalans, Jerry Dana “J.D.” Rines, Marshall D. “Buster” (Vickie) Rines, and grandchildren Jessica LaNae (Nathan) Caldarera, Benjamin Aaron Stalans, and Megan Nichole Rines, her sisters, Sandra Odom and Frankie Moyers and niece, Gloria, and nephew, Rusty.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, Nov. 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Stubblefield Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM with her son-in-law: Bro. Roger Stalans officiating. Family and friends will gather at Stubblefield Funeral Home on Tuesday at 9:30 AM to proceed to Bethesda Cemetery for a 10:00 AM graveside service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Stalans, Benjamin Stalans, Rusty Odom, Nathan Caldarera and Richard Hixson.
