Mary Allie (Ollis) Johnson

Mary Allie Ollis Hice Johnson, 83, of Morganton, NC gained her angel wings on Monday, August 14, 2023 after a short period of declining health. She was born July 31, 1940, in Burke County, NC to the late Clarence and Mary Denny Ollis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Billy Joe Hice Sr, and her second husband Raymond L. Johnson, her infant brother Herman, brother Glen Ollis, and sister Thelma Owens.

Mary Allie graduated from Glen Alpine High School in 1961. She retired from Leviton Inc (Southern Devices) after 28 years of service. She was a devoted lifetime member at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church. She was also a member of the Women’s D.A.V. Auxiliary and the Chorales Singers in Morganton. Memaw was a very outgoing and social person who loved her family, her pets, music and sports in the community, and going to A.J.’s Steakhouse.

Mary Allie is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas Davis (Theresa), Roxanne “Rocky” Epley (Dennis), Paula Epley (Roy), Kim Chumley, Billy Hice Jr. (Greta), Steve Hice (Mandy), brother Clyde Ollis, sister Evelyn Bointy, brother Bob Ollis, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 21, 2023, at Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton, NC, with Pastor Chris Uren officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Kirksey Funeral Home on Monday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
