Larry was born in Morganton, on October 19, 1948 to the late Fred & Elizabeth Clark Lackey. He was married to his wife of forty five years, Frances “Sue” Lackey. Larry worked in textiles for more than forty years. He was a fixer at Jobst, where he retired. He was very fond of nature and was an animal enthusiast. Most importantly, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, all of whom, he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Jack, and James Lackey; and two sisters, Sylvia Clark and Linda Whisnant.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Lackey of the home; five sons, Randy Lackey & wife Zandra Gydesen of Granite Falls, Tony Frady of Hickory, Jim Frady & wife Amanda, Nathan Lackey & wife Emily, and Shane Lackey, all of Morganton; three brothers, Tony Lackey, Ted Lackey, and Danny Lackey, all of Morganton; a sister, Lillian Whisnant of Morganton; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Bridge 42 Church on Carbon City Road. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.
