Genevieve Theroit, a native and resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully at Morgan City Health care Center on Monday, March 14, 2015, at the age of 88. Genevieve worked as a secretary for the Corp. of Engineers for 30 years. She had a great love for antiques especially antique clocks. She was an avid dancer and loved to shop in her spare time. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. Genevieve is survived by her sister, Bernadine Mula Hayes of Morgan City; niece, Karen Hayes Ordogne and husband, Mark; nephews, Thomas Patrick Hayes of Lafayette and Dale H. Hayes, Jr. and wife, Sharon. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Merlin Anthony Theriot and her parents, Salvatore Mula and Mary Saleme Mula. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2015 at Hargrave Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will then resume till 9:00 pm. Visitation will also be held on Friday, March 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am celebrated by Fr. Noas. Entombment will follow at Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum. Dale Hayes, Jr., Dale Hayes III, Thomas Hayes, Tyler Hayes, Mark Ordogne, and Luke Ordogne will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Genevieve’s name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Central Catholic High School.
