Elda P Solar

Elda was a woman whose heart was as big as her family was. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she adored her family above all else. The greatest joy in her life was being surrounded by them—they were her everything. And when they weren’t around, well, Elda knew how to make her own fun.

If you couldn’t find her chatting with family, you could count on her to be curled up watching one of her favorite Westerns. Gene Autry and John Wayne were her cowboy boyfriends, and no one could convince her otherwise. If it wasn’t a Western, then Elda was probably tuned into Street Outlaws, watching those speed demons race by. She had a thing for fast cars too, you know!

But that wasn’t all. Elda had a lifelong love of Bingo, and it was a love affair that never dulled. Whether it was the AARP games or the VFW halls, you could always count on her to be there, her dauber in hand, ready to yell “Bingo!” with pride when the time came. And she didn’t just play for fun—Elda was competitive. After all, who else could claim to have won a championship in pool? At 98, she may have been slower, but she was just as sharp, and her steady hand made her an unbeatable force on the pool table. She had trophies to prove it, and boy, did she ever love to show them off.

And then, of course, there was her dancing. In her younger years, she could jitterbug across the dance floor like nobody’s business. Now, even at her age, you could still catch her dancing with the staff at Legacy Nursing Home in Morgan City. Her favorite tunes? Don Rich, of course. You could always count on Elda to steal the show with a smile and a twirl.

Elda was a character—a big personality with an even bigger heart. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and her warm, loving presence will be missed more than words can say. Though she’s gone, she’ll never be forgotten, and the memories of her laughter, love, and lively spirit will live on forever.

Those left to cherish this wonderful ladies beautiful memory is her two sons, Willis Guillotte Sr. of Pierre Part and Dewilder "Dede" Solar of Morgan City; her brother, Randolph Percle of Morgan City ;her sister, Shirley Couvillier of Morgan City; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild on the way.

She was reunited in heaven with a husband, Sidney Solar; her son, Robert Melancon; her daughters, Dolores Foret and Brenda Businelle; her brothers, Nolan, Adam and Joe Percle; her sisters, Nora Pennison and Rosemae Marceaux; her parents, Clifton and Agnes Percle and several other close loved ones.

The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed for Elda on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 9am until time of services which will begin at 1pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. Following services, Elda will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Those acting as pallbearers will be Willis "Jody" Guillotte Jr., Randy Melancon, Casey Solar, Jeremy "JJ" Solar, Ryan Vaughn, and Carl Blanchard. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Solar, Jason Guillotte, Brian Businelle Jr., and Adam Marceaux.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Hope Hospice as well as several staff members at Legacy Nursing Home of Morgan City for their care and dedication to Elda during her final months.
