Charles Sherman, a resident of Morgan City, born in Abbeville, June 23, 1956 , passed away Saturday June 23, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 56.
Charles was Catholic by faith and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Charles enjoyed and lived life with a spirit of adventure. Charles was a Chief Engineer on a King Crab and Cod Fishing Ship for the last 27 years living in the Bering Sea. When Charles was home from his adventures in the Bering Sea his greatest joy in life was his family, he loved his wife with a love that was incomparable. He gave unconditional love to his family and made sure his sons had all they needed to succeed. He enjoyed grilling and was known for inviting his family and friends to his home for entertainment.
Charles is survived by his wife of 34, years Kathy Jensen Sherman of, Morgan City; his sons, Grant and his wife, Ashley Sherman, of Lake Stevens WA., and Drew Sherman of Morgan City, and his granddaughter Sophia Sherman.
Charles is also survived by his mother, LouElla Suire Pesson of Dlecambre; his brothers, Rodney and his wife, Lisa, of Gilmer TX., Reed and his wife, Cynthia, of Delcambre, and Craig and his wife, Iris, of New Iberia; his mother-n-law, Patricia O’Leary Jensen of Morgan City; his sisters-in-laws, Linda Johnson of Statesboro, Ga., and Diane Bergeron and her husband, Robbie, of Houma; his brothers-in –law, Robert Jensen and his wife, Phyllis, of Berwick, Glenn Jensen of Riverridge, and Stephen Jensen and his wife, Nit, of Marana, AZ.; and his uncles Joseph Suire of New Orleans and Bill Suire of TX. Charles is also survived by a host of nieces , nephews and a countless number of friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his father O.J. Sherman; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sherman; his maternal grandparents, Mr. Seirlle Suire and Mrs. Emma Hebert Suire, and his stepfather Ray Pesson.
A time of remembrance in celebration of Charles’ life will begin Wednesday June 27, 2012 from 10 am to 11 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City with a Mass of Christian burial being held at 11 am. Following mass, the family of Mr. Charles would like to extend an invitation to his family and friends to join them at the KC Hall in Bayou Vista where they will be gathering in Charles' memory.
